A new appliance is only as safe as the connection behind it. Reusing an old flexible connector, skipping the sealant on a fitting or forcing a range back against the wall can leave a slow leak that nobody notices until the smell builds up. We handle the connection so the appliance is ready to use and you know it is tight.
We connect gas ranges, cooktops, wall ovens, clothes dryers, tank water heaters and furnaces. If the appliance needs a larger supply line or a different connection than what is already there, we tell you before we start.
What our gas appliance hookups service includes
- Checking that the existing gas supply is large enough for the new appliance
- A new appliance connector sized and rated for the unit
- A working shut-off valve at the appliance, replaced if the old one is stuck
- A sediment trap on water heater and furnace connections where required
- A leak check on every joint with the gas turned on
- Lighting the appliance and checking the flame before we leave
How the job works, step by step
- Check the supplyWe look at the existing valve, the size of the line and the appliance rating to make sure they match.
- Prepare the connectionOld connectors are removed, and the shut-off valve is replaced if it is worn or stuck.
- Connect the applianceWe install a new connector, seal each threaded joint and set the appliance in place without kinking the line.
- Test and lightWith gas on, we check every joint for leaks, light the burners or pilot and confirm a clean blue flame.
Signs an appliance connection needs attention
- A gas smell behind the stove or dryer, especially after it was moved
- An old connector that is kinked, crushed or made of uncoated brass
- A shut-off valve behind the appliance that will not turn
- Yellow or uneven burner flames after a new range was installed
- A dryer or water heater that will not light or keeps going out
When to call us
Call us when you buy a new gas appliance, when you move an appliance to a new spot, or any time you smell gas behind a range or dryer. Connections are disturbed every time an appliance is pulled out from the wall, which is when many leaks start.
If your delivery company does not connect gas appliances, we can schedule the hookup for the same day the appliance arrives.
Strong smell of gas? Leave the house first and call 911 or your gas utility from outside. Then call us for the repair.
